TW Lounge BBS - Welcome!

TW Lounge BBS Welcomes you!

Welcome
TW Lounge is a BBS system dedicated to mostly nostalgic and some newer gaming. The system is accessible via SSH and telnet. It is strongly recommended to use SyncTERM or similar ANSI compatible terminal program.

What is a BBS? BBS is short for bulletin board system. This is what pre-dated the internet and allowed computer users who had a modem (dial-up device which worked on a standard telephone line) to connect to other computer systems, which were usually run by private individuals. On these systems you would find message boards, file areas, and games. Most systems early on were only single line, which means while you were wanting to get on and play your favorite game, you likely had to sit through some busy signals.

Good News! BBS's are making a comeback on the internet. For many this will be a nostalgic trip down memory lane, while for others it is a completely new and exciting endeavor.

About
TW Lounge is running a Synchronet BBS system at the top layer, with a Tradwars Game Server, and MajorBBS system running below it. The BBS is reachable by both telnet or SSH protocols.

The system is free to join, and free to use. Sign up today for instant access to some of the most popular BBS door games of all time. Below are some of the highlighted games available.

  • Tradewars 2002 (Multiple games v3.x on game server) and v2.x MBBS version
  • Legend of the Red Dragon: MBBS Tournament version, original DOS version, and Synchronet version
  • Darkness 2 - A new door game that was written much more recently and currently maintained
  • MajorMUD
  • More...
To access the BBS, point your favorite terminal program at:   bbs.twlounge.net  and configure telnet (port 23) or ssh (port 22) to connect. You can take a quick peek by login in a "Guest", but that account does not have access to play the games. Creating your own account is simple, and what we recommend.

Again we recommend using SyncTERM for a great experience. SyncTERM is available for Windows, Linux, OpenBSD, NetBSD, OS X, and FreeBSD, and can be downloaded from sourceforge.net/projects/syncterm.
