This is what pre-dated the internet and allowed computer users who had a modem (dial-up device which worked on a standard telephone line) to connect to other computer systems, which were usually run by private individuals. On these systems you would find message boards, file areas, and games. Most systems early on were only single line, which means while you were wanting to get on and play your favorite game, you likely had to sit through some busy signals. Good News! BBS's are making a comeback on the internet. For many this will be a nostalgic trip down memory lane, while for others it is a completely new and exciting endeavor.
